Who owns the company?

How long have you been offering this service?
We have been providing an on-site PSO service to our clients through our consultancy division for some time. Each Virtual PSO team includes at least one member with a minimum of 10 years industry experience in project and programme management. Talking to a number of clients, we discovered that a virtual PSO could provide them with an improved service and save them significant costs, so we developed the concept and launched the Virtual PSO as a separate entity in January 2009.
Where are you located?
We are based on the Southampton Science Park, in Chilworth, just outside Southampton Hampshire on the south coast of England.
What are your standard working hours?
Our staff work between 0900 and 1700 (UK time), Monday to Friday.
Getting Started
How do you transition us to a Virtual PSO?
You can start to use and benefit from the Virtual PSO software from day one. Your teams enter the project information directly into Virtual PSO. We also provide an import mechanism from spreadsheets and our web service. If you want to see historic data from day one, you will need to add this in also. If you would like to discuss how best to achieve this, or would like our Virtual PSO team to help you with this task, feel free to contact us.
How do you set us up if we don’t currently have a PSO?
We have a defined set of project support processes and useful project management report templates that can be tailored to fit any size of organisation.
Do we need to provide you with any hardware or software?
No. As this is a web-based solution which is accessed via the internet, you don’t need any special hardware or software. We’ll provide you with access to the application and you can start to benefit immediately. Virtual PSO works with all well known internet browsers and operating systems.

Our System
Do you provide real time updates?
Because your managers and PSO can update your data at any time, the information available at your fingertips can be very up to date. The Highlight Reports will reflect a snapshot in time and these will be produced from data provided by you.
I don’t have processes formalised. Can you help me set them up?
We can, of course, help you set up your programme and project management reporting processes, so that you can provide the information needed to produce your reports. Feel free to call us to discuss your needs
How often will Virtual PSO provide me with a report?
One of the key benefits of Virtual PSO is that you can decide how often and when you want to produce Highlight Reports. You can set up reminders to ensure you never miss a reporting deadline. The Dashboard is a real-time view of your programme and project management information, available at all times as soon as you Log In
Do I have access to historical information?
Yes, the Virtual PSO application allows you to view historical information, so, a large amount of useful information will be at your fingertips.
Will your report highlight problems and provide us with solutions to fix them?
Our reports will display the information you provide us in a clear and unambiguous format and identify trends that will inform your decision-making. If you would like us to provide even more in-depth analysis of any issues and a solution or get-well package, we’d be happy to talk further – just give us a call.
We have our own processes. Do we need to change these?
We do not expect you to change your processes; all you need to do is input your progress data and Virtual PSO’s innovative analytics function will do the rest.
Double keying information is wasteful. Do we have to do this?
We recognise that double-keying is resource intensive. That’s why, where possible, we recommend that you use Virtual PSO to store all of your project information, such as your Risk Register and Issues Log. Where this is not suitable, we will provide you with simple templates and instructions to allow you to easily import data via our XML web service.
What will my report look like?
There are essentially two different ways to view your reports.
- The Dashboard, this is a detailed, analytical overview, from where you can drill down into more detail at the click of the mouse.
- The Highlight Report is a snapshot in time; once your managers have entered their status reports, the reports will be available to view online or print off in a friendly format, ready for that important Project Board meeting
Security Measures
Where do you store our data?
Your data is stored securely in servers collocated within a secure data centre.
Is our data secure?
Each server is kept in a world-class data centre with redundant power and HVAC systems.
Access to the data centers is restricted to data center personnel only. Our network architecture is protected by Cisco firewalls and all of our data is transmitted using secure communications via SSL.
My data is commercially sensitive can I trust you with it?
All of your data is held securely and, if you cancel your subscription, we will not retain any data held in the system.
What disaster recovery processes do you have in place?
All of our hardware and infrastructure is protected by our infrastructure partner’s disaster recovery process with a 100% uptime and 100% critical infrastructure SLA already in place. Our applications and data servers all work on a hot-swap infrastructure which incorporates redundant live servers that are switched to within a fraction of a second. Each of our data servers operates a transaction level, live backup and these are further backed up offsite on hourly increments. You can therefore be reassured that we have contingency plans in place to ensure we can still provide a service to you.

We charge a monthly rate based on the number of users to whom you want to give access to Virtual PSO.
